What is PNR Status?

PNR stands for “Passenger Name Record”. It is an online documentation of the IR-CRS (Indian Railways reservation system) which contains all the record of a passenger and group of passenger details.
To be particular, when a passenger or passengers books their ticket, railway reservation system holds all the record of the passengers in a specific RDB (Relational Database) of central reservation framework. These subtle elements are connected with a distinctive ten digits no. This reference no. is referred as PNR, printed on top left corner of the ticket.

Every single details of the traveler such as name, gender, age, etc is stored in Data Base against the mentioned PNR reference number. It contains columns to store current and booking status of the ticket.

If you are having a Confirmed ticket then you will get CNF printed on your ticket but if you are having RAC or Waiting ticket then your ticket will have RAC or W/L printed on your ticket respectively. It is completely depends on the vacancy of berths to make it confirmed. In the meantime, every reserving is relegated a novel number 10-digit number.
